General description

The MCU extends NTB X-ray line camera systems with a powerful control unit for high-resolution stepper motors. It controls the movement for the scanning process and acts as an interface between PC and X-ray line camera, thereby minimizing the development effort for customer-specific scanning devices.

A linear translation stage with stepper motor provides the movement during the scan. The MCU connects PC, X-ray line camera, and stepper motor. The PC sends control signals to the MCU, which independently generates all signals for the stepper motor and monitors the movement while reading out the image data from the camera and transmitting it to the PC.

The stepper motor operates in substep mode with 5000 steps per revolution (0.072°/step), allowing smooth, uniform movement even at slow speeds. The MCU is available as a complete system with linear stage and stepper motor or as a system component without linear stage. The control of the MCU is fully integrated into our iX-Pect software for capturing X-ray images.
