The U-Shape X-ray camera was specially developed for digital tire inspection of truck and car tires. The proven NTB X-ray line camera with CMOS technology is used here. The U-Shape X-ray camera consists of multiple camera elements seamlessly arranged in a U-shape, allowing the entire tire to be inspected from bead to bead in a single rotation.

General description

With its variable resolution (0.25 mm-1.3 mm), the U-Shape is suitable for use in tire production as well as in research and development. With a scanning speed of up to 80 m/min, the U-shape X-ray camera guarantees high tire throughput. This allows the U-shape camera to be integrated directly into the production process for quality assurance. The 12-bit A/D conversion provides high-resolution X-ray images with up to 4096 grayscales. Due to its compact size and low weight, the U-shape camera is particularly suitable for manipulator systems.


With the iX-Pect software, X-ray images can be evaluated, post-processed, saved, sent, or used for documentation. During tire inspection, the software scrolls the tire image online across the screen. A special software feature is the automatically calculated Look Up Table (LUT): The automatic LUT displays each tire with optimal contrast. The time-consuming manual adjustment of the LUT for different tire types is eliminated.
Using the supplied software library (DLL), the U-arm camera system can be integrated into other programs. This enables customer-specific solutions up to fully automatic tire inspection.
